Juice Fasting and Detoxification: Use the Healing Power of Fresh Juice to Feel Young and Look Great: The Fastest Way to Restore Your Health by Steve Meyerowitz. "The Particulars of Fasting... This book is both informative, and an easy, pleasant read. In sharp contrast to several other books I've read, Meyerowitz doesn't force feed raw food diets or fasting down your throat with threats of disease and disaster. His approach is simple, direct and well-organized. The book begins with a discussion of what fasting is and why it can be beneficial and continues on to descriptions of how to begin, how long to continue and how to come off a fast. Other important sections include a systematic description of how the body detoxifies, what to expect as this occurs and what can be done to help the body during the cleansing process. All in all I found this to be a well-balanced and informative book that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who is new to the concept of water or juice fasting." Complete Book of Juicing: Your Delicious Guide to Youthful Vitality by Michael T. Murray, Jay Kordich. "Buy this book, improve your life! This book is an outstanding reference. Michael Murray has written a book that will help change your life. I have lost 22 pounds in the past 3 months and improved both my health and well being using the recipes and guidelines in this book. As part of a healthy diet, juicing can change your life. I bought this book after reading the many other reviews and wanted to take the time to come back after I had actually used it to provide some input. This book combines a wide variety of recipies with nutritional information and very helpful advice, of all of the books I have reviewed and/or purchased, this is by far the best - buy this book, you won't be disappointed." Heinerman's Encyclopedia of Healing Juices by John Heinerman. "valuable guide to juicing fruits and vegetables... You won't need a juicer to appreciate this readable reference on juicing (and using) a variety of fruits and vegetables. A medical anthropologist and author of other books on the healing properties of foods, Dr. Heinerman now focuses on juicing. After you choose an ailment (or a fruit or a vegetable), you will respect Dr. Heinerman's scholarship in compiling the beneficial uses of juices. Each chapter on a juice (for instance, "Lettuce Juice") documents its botanical history, description, usage and nutritive values. The anecdotes and testimonials provide strong evidence for the therapeutic qualities of fruits and vegetables -- and their juices. Any juicer you buy will get you started with some good recipes, and this text will augment your choices and combinations of juice. You'll soon be juicing every day, and on into the 21st century. Appendices include helpful information on picking a juicer, uses for the pulp by-product, supplemental commercial products, and recipes." reviewed by "a reader".

The Juiceman's Power of Juicing by Jay Kordich. "Better Late Than Never! After 40 yrs of dieting (& gaining 200 lbs! in the process) this book has given me hope that nutrition is a major key to optimum health and weight. Jay helps us understand how most of our nutrients come from fresh, living plants not cooked (dead) food. It's not a big mystery now why I gained so much weight while dieting - my body was starving for nutrition among other things. Jay explains in detail why cooked food has very little nutritional value and how our bodies get so much more "bang for our buck" out of fresh fruits and vegetables. Great nutritional information as well as tasty juice and pulp recipes. Very informative - reviews most fruits and vegetables, their nutritional values and health promoting properties. Well-written, easy to understand, and packed with enthusiasm and encouragement. Keep up the great work Jay! Reviewed by Joanne Scovill from CT.

The Juice Lady's Guide to Juicing for Health: Unleashing the Healing Power of Whole Fruits and Vegetables by Cherie Calbom "MMMM! Health, wellness, energy and great taste! What more could we want? This perky lady has stuffed another of her popular books with all the great nutritional ideas, easy-to-make recipes and interesting uses for juice anyone could want! This is the ultimate reference book - I prefer it to all her other books, although I have them all. She's the spokeslady on QVC - you know, the chirpy one who seems so smart. Well, read the book and you know she's not only smart, but she knows how to make healthy stuff taste GREAT! Good Work, Ms. Calbom! Thanks SO much for your work!" Ultimate Juicing: Delicious Recipes for over 125 of the Best Fruit and Vegetable Juice Combination by Donna Pliner Rodnitzky. "It's the juice book I've been looking for for 10 years! .... The recipes are outstanding - you'll find some drinks in here that at first glance seem a little strange, maybe even disturbing, but give them a try and you'll never go back to just fresh squeezed orange juice. The other thing a like about this book is the humor - it seems like every recipe title is a play on words or pun, I think this book could sell equally well in the humor section! I can't decide what is more refreshing - the recipes or the book!" Reviewed by a reader from San Francisco, CA. |

Julie Stafford's Juicing for Health: Over 200 Recipes for Fruit & Vegetable Juices, Soups, Smoothies & Sorbets by Julie Stafford "Excellent nutritional information and tasty recipes.... I found this book an excellent information source for nutritional information on fruit and vegetable juices. It is well organized and indexed by primary fruit and vegetable and contains a section on spicy elements such as ginger root and garlic which can be used to add zest to the juice. Rather than a purely medicinal type book, it has recipes and illustrations for some really tasty treats. My favorite is a carrot parsnip combination with a little parsley ad lib. I use this book every day and recommend it to anyone who wants good health with good taste." Reviewed by a reader from Rockaway, NJ |

Total Juicing: Over 125 Healthful and Delicious Ways to Use Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Juices and Pulp by Elaine LaLanne "A good book for beginners.... This book contains several delicious recipes; the "Tomato Salsa Drink" gets an A+. Its greatest strength are the recipes for the pulp, the fiber remnants. Each recipe lists the vitamins found in each drink, as well as the health benefits. The Index is lacking and could be more specific. If you're looking for a recipe employing a specific fruit or vegetable, not ALL the recipes using that item are listed. Still, it is a useful book, expecially for one 'new' to juicing.
